Anambra: Beware of praise singers in govt, Man tells Soludo

Chairman of the Federal Housing Estate in Onitsha Anambra state Chief Steve Anyaorah has advised the newly elected governor of Anambra State Prof. Charles Soludo to strives to be focused on his new office and developmental policies but to stay away from sycophants who will distract him when he takes over from outgoing governor Chief Willie Obiano.

Chief Anyaorah stated this during an interview with newsmen at his Aguluizigbo country home in Anaocha local government area of the state while speaking on his expectations from Prof Soludo.

He commended INEC for a peaceful, and transparent Governorship election held on November 6 even as he congratulated Prof. Soludo for a well-deserved victory.

He also noted that what the state needs most at this time was a governor that would hit the ground running to deliver on the positive development of all sectors of the economy of the state and to overtake the achievements of the outgoing governor Obiano.

He noted that there was an urgent need for the new governor-elect to consolidate on the achievements of the outgoing governor as well as initiate new development strides to attract viable development to the state.

Anyaorah further appealed to Soludo to look into the area of multiple and illegal revenue collections by touts in all markets and roads in the state with a view of stopping their activities and putting a well-knit revenue collection formula that would improve the state’s Internally Generated Revenue, construction of township roads, community roads especially the much abandoned Onitsha – 3-3 – Nsugbe road which has caused a lot of hardships to commuters living in the area, improvement of existing security architecture, rejigging the state educational sector, employment generation, and youths empowerment, etc.

According to him, “From the pedigree of Prof. Soludo I have no doubt in my mind that he has the capacity to deliver, my advice to him is for him to be focused and stay away from praise singers, let him declare a state of emergency in all the township and community roads in the state, put up a well-knit security, ban all manners of illegal revenue collection by touts who are constituting nuisance to the government, and the people; prioritize on the construction of roads especially Onitsha –3-3 – Nsugbe expressway which led to the newly built Anambra Airport, etc to open up the state to investors.”
