The importance of youth involvement in agriculture was highlighted today as Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho continued a weeklong training and empowerment program aimed at equipping young people with practical skills and start-up capital to succeed in the agricultural sector.
This initiative reflects Senator Echocho’s commitment to creating lasting opportunities for young people and promoting a sustainable future through agriculture.
The program attracted an enthusiastic gathering of young people from across Kogi East, eager to explore agriculture as a pathway to financial independence and a means to address key issues like hunger and food security. Dr. Samuel Ay Ameh delivered a powerful presentation that underscored agriculture’s vast potential, emphasizing its role in job creation, raw material production, and capital generation—all of which significantly contribute to economic growth at both state and national levels.
Dr. Ameh encouraged the youth to explore profitable areas within agriculture, including crop production, livestock farming, forestry, and aquaculture, noting that investing in these fields could help them secure their financial futures while building a more food-secure Nigeria.
Comrade Ibrahim Ahmodu, a legislative aide, advised participants to use the funds wisely, emphasizing that this program represented a turning point for them. “It is under the distinguished Senator Echocho in the 9th and 10th Senate that I have seen a senator truly empower his constituents,” he noted. He also highlighted the senator’s recent achievements and urged participants to continue supporting Senator Echocho’s impactful work.
Alhaji Danlami Garba, Senior Legislative Aide, expressed confidence in the program’s potential and encouraged participants to make the most of their new skills and the start-up capital provided. “The knowledge and resources shared here can transform lives and uplift entire communities,” he stated.
Additional support came from Usman Abuh, former State Youth Leader of the PDP, who offered prayers for Senator Echocho’s continued success. Mr. Ogwu Solo, former State PRO of the PDP, also expressed appreciation, stating, “This initiative is unprecedented in our district’s history. Senator Echocho’s commitment sets a new standard for youth empowerment in Kogi East.”
This training program stands as a testament to the critical role of agriculture in driving economic growth and addressing youth unemployment. By equipping young people with the tools to succeed, Senator Echocho is laying the groundwork for economic independence and food security across Kogi East.
This initiative marks a significant step forward for the district and a transformative moment for each participant.
