An Amalgamated Youth groups calls On EFCC To probe Kogi State Governor And Its Officials over Monumental Corruption

An Amalgamated Youth Groups for Good Governance, Kogi State, has called on the new chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa to immediately commence the prosecution of Kogi state governor, Alh Yahaya Bello and his high profile officials over monumental corruption allegations petition submitted to the commission by The Anti Corruption Network a non governmental organisations .

In a press release jointly signed in Lokoja by the groups, Comrade Onoja Jacob, Gbenga Josiah, Ishiaq Ohimoko and Abdulraman Kekere the group charge the new chairman to expedite action on the petition and prove to Nigerians that he is out to fight corruption and not a lips service.

They urge the chairman to avoid Nigerians losing faith on him at the early stage of his resumption over the anti-corruption war on selective basis, as that would erode or cast aspersions on the confidence that majority of the citizens reposed in him when he was appointed. They added that the major reasons why Nigerians voted for this regime was the issue of corruption.

“The petition against our governor is too weighty to be set aside for long, where an individual, Hudu Abdulsalami a level 12 civil servant made withdrawals of 10 million 30, 40 times in a day against the stipulated financial regulation guiding government expenditures.

“The Anti Corruption Network discovered that this has been the practice in the last five (5) years.
Money were illegal withdrew by fictitious companies without job description or tender board approval,” the group said.

The group urged Mr. Bawa to use his office to uphold the tenets of the law in order to avoid favouritism and selective justice and to strengthen the people’s belief in the rule of law.

Meanwhile, since the anti corruption network submitted its petition to the anti grafts agencies there were calls from several groups including the opposition people democratic party PDP for the immediate probe and prosecution of Kogi state governor and it’s officials over the monumental corruption allegations bordering on money laundering and other financial related crimes.
