Aisha Yesufu Slams Yahaya Bello for Hiding Like a Rat

Nigerian activist and politician Aisha Yesufu has lambasted former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello for allegedly hiding like a rat following fraud charges levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Bello, who was accused of stealing over N80 billion in state funds, has gone into hiding, prompting Yesufu to question his whereabouts in a video shared on her social media page. “Where is Yahaya Bello? Has he disappeared from the face of the earth or fled to Mars or the moon?” she asked.

Yesufu also mocked Bello’s self-proclaimed “white lion” status, saying that lions roam freely in the savannah, whereas mice hide in holes. “Yahaya Bello, the white lion, is hiding like a rat. Is this how lions behave?” she quipped.

The activist berated Bello for being powerless after his tenure as governor ended, implying that his current hiding is unbecoming of a leader who once prided himself on being fearless. “Lions walk everywhere freely, but Yahaya Bello is hiding. What a shame!” she exclaimed.

The EFCC had attempted to arrest Bello at his Abuja residence, but he was whisked away by his successor, Usman Ododo, and has since gone into hiding. Yesufu’s criticism highlights the public’s frustration with corrupt leaders who evade justice and hide from accountability.
