Again Over 50 Passengers Abducted In Niger

Bandits yesterday kidnapped over 50 passengers along the Tegina – Minna Road in the Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.

A source said the bandits ambushed three vehicles conveying nine passengers each at Kundu town, a few kilometers from Zungeru town.

He said the passengers were taken to an unknown destination; while the vehicles were left at the roadside.

Similarly, bandits kidnapped many villagers at Gidigori town in Rafi Local Government Area of the state, burning five cars and carting away valuables.

While confirming the incident, a senior government official, who preferred not to be named, said nothing had been heard from the bandits.

Bandits had Monday evening killed one person and kidnapped several others at Manta town in the Shiroro Local Government Area.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Wasiu Abiodun, did not answer phone calls seeking his reaction to the incidents.
