Tragedy struck on Thursday as a staff member of the Magistrates’ Court II, Lokoja, Kogi State, slumped and died in her house, in what co-workers said might be connected to the non-payment of salaries for eight months.
The 45-year-old deceased, Mrs. Fatimah Noah, was said to have died barely a week after judiciary workers called off their five months old strike.

It was gathered that Noah, a widow, slumped and died around 8 p.m. on Thursday in her Lokoja residence.
Eyewitnesses told our correspondent that the deceased, popularly known as Mama Danladi at her workplace, had not complained of any form of illness before her death.
A family source said since Noah’s husband died some years ago, she had been responsible for her family’s upkeep, but that the situation became worse when salaries of up to eight months were not paid.
“Mama Danladi had children in tertiary institutions. She tried to borrow N20,000 three days ago (Monday) for one of her sons in a tertiary institution without success,” the source said.
The deceased’s corpse was said to have been taken to her country home, Idah, for burial according to Islamic rites.
