Adamawa Governor Advocates for Local Government Autonomy And True Federalism.

by

As the Governor of Adamawa State, I am a staunch advocate for true federalism and firmly believe that local governments should be granted full autonomy. This can be achieved through constitutional amendments, supported by two-thirds of the State Houses of Assembly, to ensure a more decentralized and efficient system.

I urge the federal government to follow suit by releasing the full allocations due to states, rather than deducting nearly 52% as currently practiced. Furthermore, the federal government should demonstrate transparency and accountability by separating the office of the Accountant-General of the Federation from that of the federal government. This will foster rapid development, transparency, and good governance at all levels.

By empowering states and local governments, we can unlock the full potential of our nation and ensure that resources are allocated more efficiently. It is time for us to embrace true federalism and take the necessary steps towards a more prosperous and developed Nigeria.

— AUF, Governor of Adamawa State
