The recent spate of armed robberies in the Asokoro district of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has raised serious concerns about the safety and security of residents in the area. In the early hours of 8/7/24, armed men broke into residential homes on Linder Chalker street in Kuruduma 1, Asokoro, leaving residents traumatized and injured.
One victim, a staff member of the National Assembly, sustained severe injuries, including a deep cut to the head, and had to be rushed to Asokoro District Hospital for treatment. The attackers, who reportedly communicated in Hausa language, are believed to be from the “village axis” behind Asokoro, with similar incidents occurring in the area recently.
Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The Minister of FCT, security agencies, and law enforcement officials are called upon to take immediate action to address the growing insecurity in Asokoro and the FCT as a whole.
