Buhari’s ADC, CPSO, Chief Detail, ADC to first lady, 37 others, sacked from Aso Villa

  President Buhari has fired his security details and some top aides for the roles they played in a reported degenerated squabble among family members and officials of the Presidency.

  Those sacked and/or reassigned included Buhari’s Chief Security Officer, Kassim Idrissa, his ADC, Col. Mohammed Lawal Abubakar, his Chief Personal Security Officer, Abdulkareem Dauda, whom Yusuf, a son to Buhari’s niece, claimed to be threats to his life.

  Nigerians have generally criticised Buhari for keeping mute since the outrage became public knowledge.

  The incident is seen as yet another sign of internal wrangling in Nigeria’s government where officials often publicly disagree.

  The First Lady Aisha Buhari has spoken out about her husband before, suggesting in a 2016 BBC interview that his government had been hijacked. He responded by saying his wife belonged in the kitchen.

  Reacting to the incident, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday said it is alarmed by the shooting and security breaches within the precincts of the Presidential villa .

  The PDP stated it is deeply worried that the protracted spat between the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, and aides of President Muhammadu Buhari has now degenerated into violent combats, raids and free use of firearms within the Presidential villa.

  According to the opposition party, “more worrisome is that the Buhari Presidency had failed to speak out on the frightening situation so as to reassure Nigerians and douse the tension in the polity; especially at this critical time when our nation is facing serious security challenges.”

  But in a statement issued on Sunday, 14th June 2020, the Presidency “acknowledged concerns expressed by several members of the public regarding the recent incident among the occupants of the State House which escalation led to the arrest of some staff by the police.”

  According to the presidency, President Buhari was not in any form of danger arising from the reported incident by security personnel and have authorized for proper investigation to be carried out into the incident by the Police.
