It is pitiable that previous administrations, particularly the current dispensation, is lacking the leadership required in one way or the other, either by age or performance. Though, ageing does not determine performance as displayed credibly by the two previous administrations in the area of human capital development, infrastructures and capacity cum empowerment that led the state into self sustenance in the previous years.
Penultimate, it was smooth and steady people oriented policies and programs of government that was seamless and centred on mass development of the land with social, economic, infrastructural and human development being topmost in priority, in practice and action and not theoretical as obtainable now.
Having witnessed a truncated euphoria that greeted the inception of a new administration in the last three years because of dismal and self styled administration only understood by the few operators of the government, rather than collective expertise garnered from both public, private sectors, the choice of the people is to look elsewhere for a suitable and unmistakable replacement that will relive and exterminate the self inflicted misgovernance of a term that has eroded good leadership built overtime.
This is however necessitated by the suitable replacement in November of a capable hand, with general acceptability from the east, west and central senatorial districts of kogi state.
Abubakar Ibrahim, in just few months of practically entering the waters of full blown political activities, has shown glaring sign of a new dawn in the state and a departure from the dark old days that has beclouded our sense of judgement and confidence in the state leadership.
The general acceptance from all the critical stakeholders that greeted his intention to throw in his weight into the competirive ring of political leadership at the state level has relived the hope, joy and happiness of the people of different shades and opinion, particularly the public servants.
Abubakar’s aspiration has ushered in an expectation for change of ways of doing things from “Business as usual” that has retarded the state to a drifted position of acute and difficult revival situation.
Considering his age, sound orientation, awareness, exposure, connection and conduct, the people of the state are now relaxed that the next four years of the political leadership in the state is safe, sound and will meet the yearnings of the people.
With feelers the people and top political gladiators across the state, Abubakar Ibrahim is viewed as a competent hand that will ensure quick and urgent redemption of the huge damage done to the state.
The impressive outpouring of acceptance and readiness to move from the doldrums of backwardness in the present Kogi, the choice of Abubakar Ibrahim is not a hard one.
Abubakar Ibrahim, versed in management of men and resources, no doubt, when nominated and elected as governor, will not hesitate to turn around the fortunes of the state by attracting unrivaled development to Kogi.
The die is cast, we need to bury our differences, abhor pettiness and work collectively all round the state to match our actions with words, our words with actions, starting from August and crowing it in November, as the beginning of a new dawn of genuine governance in Kogi state.
