Abia Speaker, Members bow to greet Orji Uzor Kalu

The attached photos show the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Chinedum Orji and Members of the House of Assembly bowing to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

The incident took place on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, during a courtesy visit by the lawmakers to the Senator.

Senator Kalu, it could be recalled, was released from prison after six months following a Supreme Court judgment.

The judgment quashed a twelve year prison term slammed on the Kalu, a former governor Abia State.

The twelve year prison term was consequent upon a N7.56 billion fraud perpetrated by the the former governor while he was at the helms of affairs of the state government.

A human rights activist, Comrade Paul Ikechukwu Njoku reacted to the gesture of bowing down to a governor convicted for crippling the fortunes of a state.

Comrade Njoku remarked to ElombahNews during a phone interview:

“Never you trust politicians. We are not same with them.”
