Hon. Member, House of Representatives and Chairman House Committee on Customs and Excise, Hon. Leke Abejide has urged Christians to put into practice the true lessons of love and sacrifice in line with the teachings of Christ and work towards peace and prosperity by upholding the true importance of Easter.
Hon. Leke Abejide stated this in his Easter message to the people of Yagba, Kogi and Christians around the world noting that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ reminds the believers of the redemptive nature of Christ and the promise of hope and eternal life.
Abejide urged Christians to use the special occasion of Easter to pray for the leadership of the country and our state, Kogi State.
While congratulating all Christians, on witnessing another season of love and sacrifice, he stated that it had become important to engage in prayers for Nigeria amid the current economic situations.
He encouraged the people to be hopeful as Easter symbolises renewal and redemption as the true essence of celebration.
He stated: “I congratulate all Christians across the world on this year’s Easter. The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ are at the core of the Christian faith, as it demonstrates Christ’s triumph over sin and death as well as His boundless love for humanity.
“At Easter, believers are reminded of the redemptive sacrifices of Christ and the promises of hope, joy, victory and eternal life which are the true essence of the season.
“I, therefore, urge all Christians to imbibe the virtues of faith, love and sacrifice exemplified by Christ in our everyday life. Let us show love to one another, remain resilient as we share our joy with neighbours and work towards a peaceful and progressive nation.
“As a country, let us continue to live in faith, hope, and tolerance despite our national challenges. Let us use this period to reawaken our love for God and humanity and work toward our collective peace, unity, and prosperity.
“As we go about celebrating Easter, I pray that the joy of the season and the true essence fills our lives”. Happy Easter.”
