A DROWNING MAN THINKS EVEN A STRAW IS A LIFELINE.

It’s really amusing that outgoing Gov Yahaya Bello is already online celebrating the victory of a judgement yet to be delivered.
Through his aide and Commissioner for information, one Kingsley Fanwo who parades himself as an Evangelist, Bello has been engaging in very bewildering bombast, giving the impression that the turn of events today indicates that judgement will be against the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and it’s candidate Engr Musa Wada.
Truth is: Wada’s lawyer been the first to present his submission was chastised because the written presentation was done in single spacing rather than double. This made the paragraphing difficult to discern….and their Lordships complained that it makes reading stressful for them.
But almost immediately after, Bello’s Lawyer, Alex Iziyon equally came under the same barrage of attacks by their Lordships because even though his opening pages were in double spacing, he craftily reverted to single spacing in the middle pages.
The CJN Justice Tanko leading the other Justices felt the Senior Advocates were trying to cut costs of stationaries…but in cutting costs they were making the job of the court difficult as they have to exert themselves to read the Briefs of Submission. Their Lordships were clearly displeased with this thrift at expense of the court and His Lordship the CJN actually accused the lawyers of charging clients heavily only to come to court and be miserly with stationaries.
This is what Bello’s unrestrained commissioner has taken out of court and he’s touting as evidence of their impending victory.
In the last few days several functionaries of Bello’s government have resorted to public subjudicial comments that betray the impression that they have a fore knowledge of the judgment. We have carefully documented all these criminal utterances and we are delighted that the official spokesman of the government has enriched our compilation. We take his utterances vicariously as that of his principal since the said commissioner is ordinarily a nonentity.
But do these wild, uncouth and primitive subjudicial comments on a pending sensitive action before the highest court of the land actually point at an assured victory for Bello?
If they are so certain that the judgment has been arranged as their words and actions betray why are they getting so loud? Are they now so audacious and brazen that they fail to know the implication of bragging about victory in a case still being heard in a court ?
Or they now believe that our apex court is easily available to be deployed to homicidal and despicable missions like the thugs and police (fake and real) that they unleashed during the elections ? Who else on earth comes into the public space to serve notice of an evil enterprise already sealed in secrecy?
My guess is that they are overwhelmed with tension and apprehension because they know the trophy they are desecrating is a stolen one. Every thief will remain restless knowing the rightful owner of his loot is out for justice. That is why they have been unrestrained in their vociferations.
A drowning man will clutch to even a straw in one last desperate bid to survive. That is what is at play by the outgoing Governor and his now forlon flock of savage desperados.
