Sir,
A CASE OF CONSPIRACY, STEALING AND SEXUAL ASSAULT ON A MINOR BY MRS. OLUCHI UGWAH AND UCHECHUKWU JOHN EGEONU. A DEMAND FOR JUSTICE.
We are Solicitors to Mr. Jude Ugwah, a native of Akokwa in Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State but resident in Lagos State (referred to as “Our Client”) and upon his fervent authority we write this petition concerning the above subject matter.
Our client got married to the aforementioned Oluchi Ugwah on 15th April, 2005 by the celebration of a traditional marriage in his hometown in Akokwa, Imo State, the marriage was later solemnized at the marriage registry and they equally received church blessings at the Catholic Church, Ojo Barracks in Lagos State. At the time of celebration of the aforesaid marriage, Miss Oluchi was a student at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, it was our client who took up all the financial responsibilities of her financial needs ranging from payment of tuition fees, educational materials, feeding, clothing and many more until she graduated and observed the mandated youth service (NYSC) after which the couple started living together peacefully as husband and wife at 38, Folarin Street, Satellite Town, Lagos State.
The marriage was blessed with two children namely; Evergreen Ugwah, female, born on 27th November, 2007 and Praise Ugwah, male born on 31st May, 2012. Mrs. Oluchi got a job with Genith Pharm where she worked for few years before the couple decided to jointly set up a pharmacy named JuprisPharmacy which was left for her to manage being her field of study. Surprisingly, by 2015, our client started noticing some strange behaviours in his wife, she began to put password on her telephone, making whatsapp video calls late in the night, chatting with an unknown male friend at odd hours and travelling out of Lagos for days while switching off her telephone to avoid being contacted. Whenever she is confronted on these strange acts, she would always put up a lie to vindicate herself, these acts continued till 2016 but because of love, our client still endured her shenanigans.
On the 13th day of July 2016, our client came back from work and discovered that all his files and essential documents have been tampered with, he inquired from his wife being the only adult person in the house but she denied any knowledge of the incident. Again on the 16th day of July, 2016, our client returned from work and discovered that all the drugs stored in the house have been evacuated, he inquired from his wife but she lied that someone offered her a warehouse to store the drugs as the drugs are inconveniencing the children, our client believed her again not knowing that she was in for a sinister. The last straw that broke the camel’s back was the incident of 17th July, 2016, our client went to work as usual and upon his return in the night, he discovered that his wife had conspired with the aforementioned John Egeonu to steal all the properties in his apartment including set of chair, televisions sets, generator, bed, refrigerator, air-conditioners, kitchen utensils and his two children.
Our client later found out that the co-conspirator, UchechukwuJohn Egeonu had in furtherance of their conspiracy, left his place at Ihite Uhoma to live with our client’s wife in an apartment rented by her, all efforts made to recover our client’s children proved abortive as she switched off her telephone line to avoid tracking. Our client reported the incident at Satellite Police Station but their investigation has not yielded any result. A friend of our client did send a picture downloaded from facebook to our client showing his wife and John Egeonuhaving a big party. Our client once saw his wife heavily pregnant but she quickly ran into her car and sped off. Upon report to her family, she was summoned and she confirmed absconding with the two children and our client’s properties. Since then, she has been sending inflated and exorbitant school fees and maintenance fees to our client which he has been paying without complaining, yet, she kept on denying him access to his children.
The said Oluchi made away with their future savings from their joint business to erect a bungalow for John at Ihete Uhoma and another one at Area H, new Owerri. About two years ago, our client’s first daughter found her father’s number and called him, she narrated how her mother had given birth to three (3) children for Mr. John and how the said Mr. John has beenmolesting her sexually in the house and how herself and her younger brother were being maltreated like slaves while Mr. John’s children were always treated like Kings and Queens. She narrated how Mr. John had on several occasions lied against her to attract punishment from her mother because she refuses his sexual advances. Having discovered his communication with his daughter, her telephone has been seized in order to break further communication and debar her from exposing their criminal acts.
Our client is more worried as the tone from the conversation with her daughter revealed suffering, fright, molestation and ridicule. Obviously, one cannot underestimate a man like John who could deceive and conspire with a married woman to steal her husband’s properties and vacate her matrimonial home is capable of doing, such a person who is presently molesting the child could have carnal knowledge of her forcefully, the interest of our client’s children is so paramount to him and he would stop at nothing to free them from bondage and give them a new life. Oluchi (08035691965, 08058157708) presently resides in Owerri while John (08056951627) also resides with her.
It is in the light of the above that we humbly appeal to you Sir, to bring to bear your reliable and superior investigative ingenuity to urgently look into this complaint to save the lives of our client’s children and bring the culprit to justice so as to serve as deterrence to the likes of them with such criminal tendencies.
