Babatunde Irukera, received an African Peace Award themed, Achieving Peace and Accelerated Recovery of Africa’s Economy Post Covid-19.
He received the award at a ceremony organized by African Peace Magazine UK at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.
Other eminent Nigerians, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, Kwara State First Lady, Ambassador Olufolake Abdulrazak, also received awards at the event.
Babatunde Irukera, speaking at the event, said:
“Our diversity,… truly maximised, is our greatest asset. But right now, we are so engrossed in the very few things that separate us – ethnicity and religion. How can the discussion about these two things dominate and even dwarf all the other things?
“And so I think the worst part of retribution should be reserved for the very few in this country, who for their parochial interest, use our natural fault lines to divide us.”
Hon. Justice Ibrahim Suleiman Galadimawa, retired Justice of the Supreme Court, former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Chief Akin Olujinmi SAN, Chief. Jubrin Okutepa SAN, Chief Mike Ozekhome SAN, Mrs. Aladetoyinbo Oluwatoyin, Mr Emmanuel Allicious Sam, a Sierra Leonean lawyer and Dr. Mrs Sarah Jubril, among others, graced the occasion.
The Editor-in-Chief of African Peace Magazine UK, Mr. Noel Ajare, hosted guests at the ceremony.
