A new Onisapa of Isapa land has emerged. He is Oba Adeyeye Olugbemiga Adefioye 1.

The 46-years old new monarch, Oba Adeyeye Olugbemiga Adefioye, who before now was the next in rank to the demised Onisapa, late Oba Rapheal Alayande Oguntola, was the Elekan of Isapa land, the highest ranked chief from Ilekan Ruling House.

Oba Adeyeye was installed as the new Onisapa on Friday, 23rd July, 2021 by the Kingmakers known as ‘Aku-Meji’, constituted by the two compounds in Isapa (Ikimo and Okelekan Compounds) who are traditionally and customarily empowered to install a King, who must have emerged and pronounced by the ruling House next in line to produce the Onisapa.

The Isapa Traditional Rulership stool is being rotated between the Ilekan Ruling House and Iwoye Ruling House. The highest ranked chief from either of these two ruling houses, whose turn is to produce the king, traditionally and customarily becomes who will be pronounced and presented to the Kingmakers (Aku Meji) for traditional installation as new Onisapa..

It would be recalled that the demised Onisapa, Oba Rapheal Oguntola, who was from Iwoye Ruling House, was the highest ranked chief, Baba Oye, from his ruling lineage before he was crowned the Onisapa in 1991.

After his demise, it automatically becomes the turn of the Ilekan Ruling House to produce the next Onisapa, and this led to the pronouncement of the highest ranked chief from Ilekan Ruling House, the Elekan, Chief Adeyeye Adefioye Olugbemiga as their candidate for the Onisapa Stool from Ilekan Ruling House, who has now been installed as the new Onisapa of Isapa land by the traditionally empowered ‘Aku-Meji’, the Kingmakers.

The community was in jubilation mood as the new King made his first royal entry into the town immediately after his installation rites, by dancing round the town in a festival like outing, joined by a large number of members of the community, as an indication of his wide acceptance by the people.

It would also be recalled that the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affair, Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed Saifudeen had admonished the community to strictly observe and adhere to tradition and custom for a hitch free transition process, during the state government’s condolence visit to the family of the demised monarch.
