The Chairman, Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Kogi State chapter, Dr Omakoji Oyiguh has appealed to the traditional rulers to protect the hospitals and medical practitioners in their domain.

At the palace of the Eje Dekina, HRH Chief (Dr) Usman Obaje OON, yesterday, 23/7/2021 the Chairman cried out that it is no longer comfortable for doctors to come out in the night to attend to emergencies, even if high profile case, for fear of being kidnapped.

The Chairman NMA Kogi State who was accompanied by Dr Kelvin Osaretin Okungbowa, Chairman, NAGGMDP, and immediate past Secretary of the Nigerian Medical Association, Kogi State chapter, told the Eje Dekina that local boys are also involved in the kidnappings, and requesting communities to deal with the situation.

The Eje Dekina said the communities are really working, briefing the NMA Chairman on the plan to fish out the kidnappers.

Earlier, Dr Omakoji Oyiguh, Chairman, NMA Kogi State had visited Ugwolawo to debrief the kidnapped doctor that was released.

In a state signed and made available by Dr Emmanuel Bola Jonah Kelvin Director of publicity NMA-KOGI, Ejeh while reacting to this visitation said “I am particularly impressed by this visit this is responsible leadership”

This current NMA kogi leadership is surpassing expectations in all aspects of the welfare of doctors regardless of their constituency.

I love the idea of promptly registering our displeasure against the ugly trend of making doctors laboring to protect the health of the rural masses the target of kidnap for ransom.

I salute the team.
