Ane Igala Restoration (AIR ) present a memorandum to the Senate Committee on constitution Review, sitting at it’s north central Zone 2, Minna, Niger state today being 27th May, 2021. Highlights of her presentation include the following :
1. Composition and structure of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Ane Igala Restoration (AIR ) calls for the review of sections 1 and 2 of the constitution to restructure the polity as to strengthen the federating units for governance.
2. State police – Ane Igala Restoration (AIR) calls for the review of the section 214 of the constitution to establish state police and ensure better financing for the federal force.
3. Resource control and open grazing. Ane Igala Restoration (AIR) express support for the call of the southern Governors in their Asana declarations, demands for the banning of open grazing and insist on grant of control of natural resources to regional or state authorities as the case may be .
4. State creation and the creation of Ane Igala State. Ane Igala Restoration(AIR) calls upon the National Assembly to listen to the cry of marginalized entities and support the creation of states and other federating units. She specifically request for the creation of Ane Igala state with headquarters at Idah, Kogi State insisting that the said state will draw territories from Kogi, Benue, Anambra, Enugu, Delta and Edo State adding that it will be a re-allignment of the old Igala Nation and people. She believes that creating Ane Igala state will not only address the developmental need of the people but will address colonial injustice and deepens the sense of unity of the people.
- Electioneering process_Ane Igala Restoration strongly support the call of all stakeholders in the electioneering process for the amendment of the Constitution and the electoral Act to give way to electronic voting and to take cognizance of present reality of our electoral system.
It is our firm view that these and several other constitutional matters agitating the minds of Nigerians should be addressed by the National Assembly through this process.
