Ane Igala Restoration (AIR), a pan Igala Socio-cultural organization with a mandate of uniting all Igala speaking communities globally wishes to express her deep sympathy with her blood, kith and kin in Ulloshi community of Esan North Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria over the loss of lives amidst other losses suffered by the community on Wednesday, 14th April, 2021 when men dressed in Military uniforms stormed the community at about 7_8pm and without any form of provocation descended on the people, shooting sporadically and setting houses ablaze thus leading to the death of two prominent indigenes of the community, Mr Evans Charlie and Earnest Akeni, both young men of about 19 years of age and the disappearance of two other young men Romanus and Emmanuel.
AIR notes with regret the fact that this attack is wholly unwarranted and unprovoked as the community has hitherto enjoyed absolute peace within and without. The fact that the attackers were dressed in Military uniforms and came in Military supposed fashion to carry out the destruction of the community at a time of absolute peace leaves much to be desired.
AIR notes with suspicion the fact that it is not in the tradition of the security system of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to deploy military personnel to communities in times of peace and for such personnel to unleash terror and mayhem on citizens they are under duty to protect, most especially when there is no record of any crisis defiling Police capacity to handle in the community.
AIR hereby condoles and sympathize with the Ulloshi community in general and the immediate families of the deceased over their losses and pray for the repose of the souls of the deceased. AiR wishes to assure the people of the community of her support, solidarity and that of the Igala Nation worldwide in this very trying moment of the community.
AIR wishes to express her willingness and readiness to join the community in seeking justice from the Nigerian Nation against this dastardly and unwarranted act.
We hereby call on the Esan North Local Government authority, the Edo State Government under the leadership of Chief Godwin Obaseki and all security authorities including the Military and the Police to wield into this matter, fish out the perpetrators of this dastardly and unwarranted act and bring the perpetrators to justice.
We believe that bringing the perpetrators to justice will rekindle the trust of the Ulloshi community in the Nigerian Nation, restore their sense of security and spirit of patriotism.
