Gridlock In Gwagwalada Over Roads Construction, Commuters Stays For Days On Lokoja-Abuja Roads.

Commuters and motorists have suffered untold hardships in Gwagwalada area,as gridlock has taken over the road leading to commuters spending between 48 hours and 24 hours on the road to Lokoja.

The road contract handled by Dantata and Sawoe was awarded in 1999 by President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration.

The Abuja end of the road was awarded to an indigenous company,which include Bulletin construction company and Ghetto as the gridlock spread from Gwagwalada to Giri junction.

The three companies performance on the road 22 years after was not encouraging as Sukuk fund was also invested to no avail.

The stretch of Lokoja-Abuja roads had being in bad shape as some locations in Gwagwalada,and other neighborhood towards Abaji is always under repair.

The worst is Abaji- Lokoja end that is now a death trap for pedestrians travelling to the South East and South West part of Nigeria.

From Kuje end to Gwagwalada ,travellers are also experiencing serious hold up along the roads ,especially those plying the axis.

The current gridlock and endless repairs is also prevalent at Lokoja end by Banda to NATACO were both pedestrians and motorists have resorted to trekking to get to Lokoja town.

According to travellers,they are appealing to FRSC,the Military and Police to deploy more of its men on the road to forestall breakdown of law and order,as well as control the endless gridlock.

They accused the Minister of Works,Babatunde Fashola of non challant attitude towards motorists and commuters plying the roads.

It is observed that the situation if not brought under control,will preclude many travellers on the road during the forthcoming Easter period,as Lokoja-Ganaja end is witnessing another hectic situation for travellers due to ongoing reconstruction.
