2023: Confusion in Yahaya Bello Camp as APC Zone Presidency To South

by

Senator Abubakar Geiri, the leader of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), says the party has zoned the 2023 presidency to the South-South. This was declared on Sunday during the kick-off of the registration and revalidation exercise in Uyo, the state capital, by Geri, Chairman of the APC Registration and Revalidation Panel for Akwa Ibom State.

According to Geiri, President Muhammadu Buhari and the party’s Caretaker Chairman and Yobe Governor Mai Mala Buni were informed of the decision.

Geiri, portrayed by the Panel’s Secretary, Hon. Sheriff Banki called on the party’s south-south wing, especially the youth and women, to mobilise and register for the 2023 election to take over. He said: “The presidency is coming back to the South in 2023, I don’t say this by myself, I have Mr. President’s authority, I have the authority of the party’s national chairman to tell you that the presidency is coming back to the South.” So, with this, there’s a ball in your court now.

I am sure that all this mushroom group will soon copy us, too, and suggest that their presidency will come to the South as well. So, you see, our nominee can still not win if you don’t come out in masse to register for APC. So, in all the elections that are coming, come out and register and vote for APC.

We call on young people and women in particular to go out en masse and own this party because we’ve almost done our own, we’re on our way out, and we want our sons and daughters to come and take over from us.” He commended the party’s Akwa Ibom state chapter for taking the revalidation seriously by showing up en masse for the exercise.
He added that registration documents will be supplied to all units before Wednesday for individuals to begin their revalidation.
“If you go to register and they tell you that the forms have been completed, don’t worry, more are coming from now until Wednesday, everybody will have the opportunity to register from their own unit, and this is the basis for Akwa Ibom to take over from APC in 2023,” he said.

Recall Yahaya Bello campaign team lead by Spekear Kogi state Assembly, Mathew Kolawole while in Ilori, Kwara state called on political leaders in the North Central region to lobby for the zoning of the presidency in 2023 to the region.

Matthew Kolawole, said the zone had not benefited from power-sharing in the country under the current dispensation.

“North central has not really benefited from the power sharing of this country under democratic setting, particularly president and vice president. We are lobbying Your Excellency that when it is time to talk about zoning arrangement, let the presidency be zoned to the north central,” Mr Kolawole said.

“We are in Kwara State on an advocacy visit. Kogi State House of Assembly took it upon ourselves without sponsorship from anybody that we want to support our own governor.

“We want to support him because of the existing relationship between us. We have a perfect and robust relationship,” he said.

Mr Kolawole said since Mr Bello assumed office, insecurity had reduced in the state, adding that the governor has also managed ethnic relationships in the state, stressing, “He is a complete detribalised Nigerian.”
