Bauchi State Government has apologised for the release of a suspected Bauchi serial rapist, Yusuf Bako, who was released in a bid to decongest the prison during the Coronavirus pandemic after raping a 4-year-old girl.
Governor Bala Mohammed sent the apology when the 21-member committee on Sexual and Gender Based Violence visited him in his office.
The Bauchi State Chief Executive, who is also bothered by the increasing rate of sexual and gender violence, expressed regret over his action.
Earlier, the wife of Bauchi State Governor, Aisha Mohammed, who led the 21-member committee on the visit, as well as the committee Chairperson, Esther Ahamed, briefed the Governor on the recent record cases of rape in Bauchi.
The committee also solicited for funds from the Bauchi State Government to carry out their responsibilities.
