EXCLUSIVE: Overstaying NASS Clerk,Sani Omolori,And His Many Undoings.

 
The crises of leadership of the National Assembly clerk has hit the roof top,not for anything, but according to the anti people’s stance of Alhaji Prince Sani Omolori,whose high-handedness trascends all facets of the legislative arms of government, OBSERVERS TIMES report learnt
Aside statutorily staying beyond official age limit and period in a public office,Sani Omolori tenure as Clerk of Assembly is a testament of leadership gap ,from staff welfare,aides of lawmakers as well as the Lawamkers both at the red and green chambers .
Insiders sources,who confided in OBSERVERS TIMES says for Omolori,it is a family affairs,from employement opportunities to placement, contracts and supplies are the exclusive preserve of his family members,cronies and associates.
Salaries, allowances, training and re-trainings of the staff of the National Assembly and legislative aides that was usually a routine affairs as, well as others were being denied in the last four years of Alhaji Sani Omolori.
Reliable sources obtain confirmed,Due process that was the watchword of the highly revered legislative establishment has become a thing of the past,as process are construed under secrecy and favour from the power that be,under the supervision of the National Assembly Clerk.
Some staffers revealed that gone were the days when payment of entitlements of both staff and aides of the Lawmakers at both levels is a mirage,as even some of the Lawmakers are shortchange of their entitlements.
One year after the resumption of the 9th Senate and Assembly,some or virtually all the legislative aides have not access the first 28 days and quaterly Duty Travel Allowance(DTA),due for all categories of staffs and political appointees of both the Senate President and the Speaker,Federal House of Representatives.
Most of the aides of the Lawmakers rely on the 28 days to settle down at their various offices,to commence the process of legislative assignments given the difficult terrain of the Federal capital Abuja,but all efforts to access the payment after 12 calendar months,was not yielding, under the premise of paucity of resources.
His preference is creating opportunities for supplies and contracts for family members,cronies and fronts to access jobs that run into billions of naira to the detriment of the staffers and legislative aides.
It was revealed that funds meant for training of aides running into millions of naira was diverted, without taken congnisance of due process,while aides were not trained,affecting the staff development of the Legislative arm of government.
In some instances,staffs due for training were not obliged,only for training kits and souvenirs flying round as fulfilement of having undergone trainings,without manpower experience,while funds meant for the purpose intended is diverted.
Glaringly,erratic salary payments has become a recurring decimal,as staffers and aides of National Assembly members get salaries most times on the 6th to 10th of the following month, under the guise of non availability of funds,even though the National Assembly is on first line charge of funds assessment from the Federation account.
Insider sources confirm that monies meant for salary purpose/payments were always left in the account to yield more interests, and those meant for allowances were diverted into contract and supplies, at the expense of starved workers.
Some workers of Assembly and aides had ressolve that the end of the tenure of Alhaji Prince Sani Omolori, will be the beginning of good things that will happen to the workers of the National Assembly.
Already the new leadership of the National Assembly Commission has already giving it’s nod on the expiration of the tenure of the Clerk of the Assembly, including the leadership of two arms of the Assembly.
The HOS of the Federation,Yemi Esan, frowned on the illegal extension of the current clerk of the National Assembly,saying the clerk’s tenure had expired and any extension is null and void and of no effect .
Omolori got illegal extension from the previous leadership of the 8th Assembly having support the leadership in it’s affront against the Executive arm of the goverment, all through it’s tenure.
The Executive arm was harrassed and embarrassed in connivance with the clerk of the National Assembly, so much so that in 2018,during the presentation of National budget by President Muhammadu Buhari,was booed by the two arms of the Assembly.
The developement generated a lot of controversies and ill feelings, and tend to mar the image of Nigeria in the international community and comity of Nations.
Under normal circumstances ,Prince Omolori is expected to proceed on terminal leave without further delay in line with the regulations of the civil service,the feelings of the leadership of NASS,the Commission and the Head of Service of the Federation.
