The People of Olowa in Dekina local government and Shintaku of Bassa local government both in Kogi East has raised concern over what it described as the alarming and unrelenting impunity with which several communities in Kogi state on its River boundary are being invaded by armed kidnappers.
in a statement sent to OBSERVERS TIMES on Wednesday called on the public and the government to take particular note of the past five days in which the villages sharing boundaries between Dekina and Bassa down to close Riverside border between Kogi and Nasarawa states have been under severe attacks by kidnappers numbering over 200, riding on motorcycles and heavily armed with AK-47 rifles, abducting people from farms and market road.

The statement signed by Mathias John “These invaders, who took the villagers by storm both at broad day night and afternoon had continued to kill, maim, destroy, loot, sacked and occupy these villages with impunity.”
Mathias said with the effort of Community Vigilante some Suspected kidnapers arrested in Shintaku while attempting to escape through River Niger and Benue. After interrogation by the Police at the Shintaku Station, they gave their names as:
Ahmodu Haruna
Ali Mohd Bello
Mohammed Abubakar
Umar Abubakar.
They have since been transferred to Kogi State Police Headquarters for further interrogation and investigation but fear that they may be released from Lokoja, the kidnappers yesterday, shut dead a man named Pa Anibe Amanabo in the same community of Bassa local government.

OBSERVERS TIMES authoritatively confirms that a man was beheaded in Odenyi with some part of his body taken away in Bassa local government, the communities, therefore called on the government to look into the crisis and take urgent necessary steps to address the perennial crimes against humanity in the Olowa, Shintaku and other communities around Dekina and Bassa axis.
