Former Kogi governorship aspirant under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim has been directed to appear before the disciplinary committee of the party in his Icheke Ward over allegations of anti-party activities levelled against him.
In a letter of invitation to the former governorship aspirant and signed by the Secretary of the Disciplinary Committee, Barrister Ademu Mohammed, the party urged him to appear before the panel which will commence sitting on Thursday, March 12, at Icheke Ajokpachi, headquarters of Icheke ward by 10 am prompt.
While advising him to appear in person before the panel, the committee assured him and the party of equity, fairness and justice in the discharge of the all important assignment that is aimed at strengthening the party and to deepen democracy. Abubakar, son of a former Governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, was suspended by the Icheke Ward chapter of the party last week.
In the suspension letter signed by the Icheke Ward chairman of PDP, Hon. Sunday Idakwoji, the party said after considering the weight of the allegations against him it decided to suspend him for one month to ensure fairness, equity, and justice to be served in the matter. “This is to inform you, Abubakar Idris, that there is a petition against you and to enable us get to the root of the matter, a disciplinary committee has been set up in accordance with the provision of the constitution of the party 2017 as amended.
And to allow us to do justice to this petition in accordance with the constitution of our great party, we have resolved, after preliminary hearings, to suspend you from the party for a period of one month.
“Therefore, this is to inform you that you have been suspended from the party pursuant to Section 57( 3) of the party’s 2017 constitution as amended,” the suspension letter stated. Alhaji Abubakar Idris was a former governorship aspirant of the party in the last primary election.
He headed to court after he lost the governorship primary election to his in-law, Engineer Musa Wada. The court, however, ruled that the primary election was inconclusive and PDP had no candidate in the November 16, 2019 Kogi governorship election.
