Putin Declares War On Gay , So Long As I Remain A Russian President, Gay Marriage Cannot Happen Under My Watch

Mr. Vladimir Putin, the Russian president has vowed not to allow gay marriage to happen in his country so long he remains in charge of the country.

Those thinking gay marriages will be legalized in Russia should have a re-think that will never happen under my watch as a president, Putin said.

The president made his position known while speaking in Kremlin, a city in Moscow, where he met a state commission to discuss the changes to Russia’s constitution.

Under my watch, the traditional notion of mother and father cannot be subverted by any means or any argument of reason, Putin said.

“As far as ‘parent number 1’ and ‘parent number 2’ goes, I’ve already spoken publicly about this and I’ll repeat it again: as long as I’m president this will not happen. There will be dad and mum,” Putin added.

There has been political tension in Russia as Putin is trying to introduce a reform that will make him become life president.

Last month, Mr. Dmitry Medvedev, the country prime minister, and others resigned after Putin proposed a constitutional reform that would pave way for him to become a life president without term limit.

The president had while addressing the country lawmakers, proposed a referendum on amending Russia’s constitution to increase the powers of parliament while maintaining a strong presidential system.

“I consider it necessary to conduct a vote by the country’s citizens on an entire package of proposed amendments to the country’s constitution,” Putin said.
