ENGINEER ABDULLAHI A. SULE FULFILLS PROMISE: MEETS WITH BPE, NIPP AND TCN TO SEEK COMPLETION AND STEPPING DOWN OF 330 KV LINE SO AS TO ENSURE ADEQUATE ELECTRICITY POWER SUPPLY FOR NASARAWA STATE:
Citizens are well aware that adequate power supply is a critical prerequisite to any nation’s development, but sadly in Nigeria, irregular power supply is a constant problem for both urban and rural areas, such that Nigeria is today called the “second poorest power supply country” in the entire world.
Coming from a business background, Governor Abdullahi A. Sule of Nasarawa State understands that electricity generation, transmission and distribution are capital-intensive activities, which require huge resources of funds, capacity and unwavering political will and determination.
That is why Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule made a promise earlier in the week, while on inspection visit to Akurba Electricity Substation in Lafia that he will visit NIPP, BPE and TCN in Abuja, so as to agree on responsive and innovative solutions that will provide quick, efficient and better energy output for people of Nasarawa State.
Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule revealed that he is insisting on “time-bound” contractual agreements, because unless a timeline is set and strictly adhered to by all parties concerned to address the power supply problem in Nasarawa State; his administration will be handicapped in actualizing its core objectives to generate employment and industrialize Nasarawa State.
Governor Sule revealed that electricity is currently being received from the high-voltage 330 KV transmission lines coming from the South, which the people of Nasarawa State are expectantly anxious to see that it is stepped-down into Lafia and transmitted to six local statewide electric distribution lines, before it passes on to its original destination of Jos in Plateau State.
It is therefore to bring to an end the epileptic and inadequate power supply in Nasarawa State, that Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule met and held extensive meetings in Abuja with Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) which manages the electricity transmission infrastructure between the GenCos and the DisCos’ Feeder Sub-station; the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP ) owned by the three tiers of government and Bureau Of Public Enterprises (BPE) which interfaces with public enterprises to promote balanced regional development in every part of the country.
