On assumption of duty in 2012,Capt Idris Wada did not hide his indignation about the social problems arising from massive unemployment, social vices inherited by his administration in Kogi state, and the urgent need to conjecture a lasting solution that will move the state forward, the convening of Korea International Cooperative Agency(KOICA),became imperative
Aside not allowing the monster of unemployment and it’s accelerated growth became an irredeemable social vices in Kogi,Capt Wada hurriedly put up a machinery to reverse the ugly trend to its extinction
It consisted both long term as well as short term measures to urgently reverse the trend to normalcy,a feat achieved to a large extent by the former Governor,Capt Idris Wada
The action of the former governor was double edged,to take off the young agile and promising youths reverted as political thugs and miscreants by leaders at all levels, and to also control the global trend of unemployement in Kogi
The trend had astronomically turned to social disorderliness and criminally minded ones amongst them constituted themselves to security threats, within the state and beyond
Capt Wada determined to instill the best practice in Kogi through good governance, set up a machinery that led to the convening of a youth based skilled and empowerment program, known as Youth Advancement For Kogi(YAD4KOGI),a quasi para military and skilled outlet to mitigate the two major demons that bedevilled the confluence state
This group of youths garnered from the 21 local government areas of the state, got the military cum para military training to expose them to both skilled and unskilled assignment capable of taking the state and their careers to another level
Aside, the common notion to put off the youths from the streets,it was also meant to train them into productive ventures,as well placed on monthly emoluments to encourage them into picking a career at that level
Not done with the short term solution,Capt Idris Wada devised a long term of Korea friendship, designed to train about 17,000 prospective youths not only in kogi or Nigeria, but in Korea and some Asian countries to pick carriers in various skilled programs to advance their course of endeavours in life
The Korean friendship arrangement meant to drive home the program, built a gigantic edifice in the state polytechnic in lokoja, with various state of arts equipement running into millions of naira,to finally address youth redundancy and restiveness
This was in addition to selected youths across the state, that were also taken to Korea,by the Capt Idris Wada’s government, to undergo the rudiments of training and operation of the equipement, and to also serve as train the trainee arrangement of the state government
Capt Wada commissioned and enrolled the first set of trainees, who have graduated recently and due for a trip to Korea in line with the agreement with the Korea friendship, either to pick a career in Nigeria or any Asian country including Korea
The concept of former governor Wada, was to extend similar projects to the two other senatorial districts of the state,so as to put a stop to all social vices and create an alternative route for others whose intentions is to build career in the skilled and unskilled field
It was also part of the agreement with KOICA, to put off the street of kogi unemployed youths after 10 years of its operation, as well as developed it to a centre of excellence for other states in Nigeria
The state government under the former administration of Capt Wada, also agreed to collaborate with the various Technical colleges in the state, department of Engineeering both at the state polytechnic,College of Education Technical,Kogi State University, as a training ground for both the lecturers who intends to further their education and students whose courses are in line with the centre programs
Capt Wada deployed the short term and long term arrangement to develop kogi state to an enviable height, even though confronted by lack of continuity from the present adminstration with KOICA,largely insulated
