Eid el Fitr: Idris Omede felicitates with Muslim faithful, Sympathises with Kogi residents over grinding poverty in the state.

Leading contender for the office of Kogi State Governor on the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Idris Omede, has congratulated Muslim faithful, worldwide, for their successful completion of 2019 Ramadan.
As the faithful join the rest of the world to begin the month of Shawwal through Eid-el-Fitri feast, which marks the end the Holy Month, Omede urged them to continue to imbibe the lessons learnt during the Ramadan in all they do.
According to him, it is the will of Allah to see every Muslim exude Godly characters at all times in whatever they do and in their relationship with others.
While praying for peace and steady progress in Nigeria’s economy, Omede sympathized with people of Kogi state over biting hardship they are currently facing.
Omede said while most Muslims in other parts of Nigeria celebrate Eid-el-Fitri with joy, faithful in Kogi are forced to celebrate in pains foisted upon them by poor governance.
The former Commissioner for Health in the state and immediate past President, Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN) and Past President of Nigerian Medical Association NMA, said he remained focused in his ambition to ‘rescue’ Kogi state from bad leadership and lead people of the state into prosperity.
His words: “I thank Allah for seeing us through the 2019 Ramadan and making us to observe and celebrate the end of the month of Ramadan as well as the beginning or first day of the lunar month of Shawwal (10th lunar month).
“Eid al Fitris celebrated by Muslims worldwide to mark the end of Ramadan. It was started by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is the first and only day in the month of Shawwal during which Muslims are not permitted to fast.
“Some of the lessons from Ramadan are: love, peace, charity, fairnessand closeness to our creator.In essence, in our daily lives, if we imbibe these religious pillars, the world will be a better place for all to live.”
Speaking specifically on the situation in Kogi State, Omede said: “We cannot believe that in our very eyes, the people of our dear state could be subjected to face these harrowing economic woes. But, we believe it is a phase in which we can all distinguish the difference between good and poor leadership. It is a moment we can distinguish between sorrow and joy, a government that should not be, and the one that is desired.
“I have said repeatedly that I was born to care. I am a medical doctor, trained to care. As a seasoned medical doctor and politician, I know what to give to the good people of Kogi state to make them healthy and happy. The people of Kogi need urgent and enduring care. That is what I am bringing into leadership of our dear state. I remain committed to running a government that will be anchored on human development, job creation, security, infrastructure, prompt payment of workers dues, accountability, among others.
“I believe, with the support of Almighty Allah, and working together with you and our people from other Faith, I will evolve good and people-oriented governance in Kogi state and position our dear state among the most attractive, productive and prosperous in Nigeria.”
