Popular Nigerian media personality and television host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, has announced the launch of his latest project, a thought-provoking podcast titled “MENtality with Ebuka”, set to premiere on 28 October 2025.
The podcast, produced by She Tank Studios in collaboration with Empire Mates Entertainment (EME), will feature candid conversations with some of Nigeria’s most notable voices, including Seun Kuti, Banky Wellington (Banky W), Noble Igwe, Timi Dakolo, Johnny Drille, Hermes Iyele, and Murewa and Michael Sonariwo of the Menisms podcast.
According to the producers, MENtality with Ebuka seeks to challenge outdated stereotypes surrounding masculinity and provide a safe, honest platform for men to share their experiences and perspectives on identity, relationships, and societal expectations.
Speaking on the vision behind the podcast, Ebuka explained that the series is aimed at redefining how men perceive themselves and their roles in society.
“Too often, men feel pressured to fit into outdated moulds of masculinity. We are creating a space where men can speak honestly about who they are, their struggles, fears, and growth, without shame,” he said.
Co-producer and guest, Banky Wellington, emphasised that the conversations extend beyond men, highlighting their relevance to families, women, and communities.
“These conversations are not just for men. They are for women, families, and communities who are all impacted by evolving gender norms. Our hope is that MENtality with Ebuka becomes a tool for understanding, empathy, and change,” Banky W noted.
Also speaking, Executive Producer and founder of The She Tank, Blessing Omakwu, stated that the project reflects a broader goal of addressing gender issues from all sides.
“Gender equality is impossible if we ignore masculinity. Issues like incel culture and gender-based violence are shaped by how men are taught to see themselves,” she said.
The debut season will explore diverse topics such as love, religion, money, emotional expression, and social pressures, offering deep reflections on what it means to be a man in contemporary Nigerian society.
New episodes of the podcast will be available weekly across major streaming platforms including YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and others, in both audio and visual formats.
