Former Rivers State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tonye Cole, has claimed that Governor Siminalayi Fubara is not fully in charge of his administration as he returns from suspension.
Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Wednesday, Cole described the governor’s situation as “extremely difficult,” warning that he may be unable to make independent decisions without external interference.
He likened the standoff to Nigeria’s recurring pattern of “godfather–godson” political battles, which he argued have consistently undermined governance and left citizens worse off.
“My prayer is that as we come back, because we don’t know what we are going to see starting from tomorrow, the one thing that we are sure about is that the governor is not in a position to make any decision,” Cole said.
He advised Governor Fubara to reach an understanding with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in order to ease tensions and allow governance to progress.
