Former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel has named his 24-man England squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia. The selection brings encouragement for the Super Eagles as Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo misses out yet again, signalling a possible switch to Nigeria.
Tuchel, appointed England boss earlier this year, has enjoyed a bright start with three wins in four games, leading the Three Lions to the top of their qualification group with nine points from three matches. His squad includes key players such as captain Harry Kane, John Stones, Jordan Pickford, Declan Rice, and Ollie Watkins.
However, the squad notably excludes Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jude Bellingham, both sidelined by injury, as well as Tosin Adarabioyo. The 27-year-old defender remains uncapped by England but is eligible for both England and Nigeria. During a recent visit to Nigeria, Tosin revealed that he is seriously considering which country to represent internationally. “It’s something I think about seriously. Hopefully, in the nearest future, I’ll make a decision,” he told Arise TV.
Despite his strong club performances for Chelsea, Adarabioyo has yet to break into the England senior team. His omission from another England squad reduces his chances with the Three Lions, boosting hopes that he may soon pledge his international future to the Super Eagles, especially with the 2026 World Cup on the horizon.
The defender emphasized that he has never rejected Nigeria, leaving the door open for the national team.
