Russian President Vladimir Putin declared on Thursday that the United States is actively working to halt the Ukraine war, as he briefed senior officials in Moscow ahead of a pivotal summit with US President Donald Trump in Alaska on Friday.
Chairing a high-level meeting with key negotiators, including Foreign Secretary Sergey Lavrov, Putin outlined preparations for the Alaska talks, focusing on the ongoing Ukrainian crisis. “The current US administration is making, in my view, vigorous and genuine efforts to cease hostilities, resolve the crisis, and secure agreements that serve all parties involved,” he stated.
Putin also hinted at broader implications for global stability, suggesting that a nuclear arms control deal between Russia and the US could bolster peace not only bilaterally but worldwide.
