Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is now on the verge of a permanent move to Turkish giants Galatasaray after the club finally met Napoli’s €75 million asking price—bringing months of intense negotiations to a close.
Multiple sources familiar with the deal confirmed that all terms have now been agreed upon, including payment structure, sell-on clause, and a key condition barring a future transfer to Serie A rivals. Osimhen is expected to undergo medicals in Istanbul in the coming days to finalise the move.
“Deal done: Victor James Osimhen to Galatasaray on a permanent move,” said Wazobia FM’s Onyebuchi Onokala, who has closely tracked the transfer. “Final agreement reached between Napoli and Galatasaray for €75m as Galatasaray meets all conditions set by Napoli. Napoli gets 10 per cent of any future sale. Victor battled Napoli to accept the fifth offer. Next is to make plans for medicals.”
Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also reported that Napoli are expected to receive an additional €5 million in performance-related add-ons, depending on Osimhen’s goal tally.
The 26-year-old had previously spent the 2024/2025 season on loan at Galatasaray, where he delivered an outstanding performance—netting 37 goals and providing eight assists across 41 matches. Despite his stellar run, Napoli remained firm on their €75 million release clause, which reportedly expired on 15 July but was still upheld by the Italian club.
Galatasaray had initially struggled to meet the financial terms, especially around providing adequate bank guarantees. The club agreed to pay €40 million upfront, with the remaining €35 million to be paid in instalments by June 2026.
However, Napoli’s reluctance stemmed from a history of delayed payments from Galatasaray dating back to 2014, when transfers involving Goran Pandev and Blerim Dzemaili led to payment issues.
Sources in Turkey, including Sports Digitale, confirmed that Galatasaray finally offered the assurances Napoli demanded, allowing the deal to proceed.
In another strategic move, Galatasaray reportedly accepted a clause mandating a hefty financial penalty if Osimhen is sold to another Serie A club within the next two years—an effort by Napoli to prevent the striker from ending up with a direct rival.
Osimhen, for his part, rejected a return to Napoli and turned down offers from Saudi Arabian clubs. His exit comes amid a strained relationship with the Napoli hierarchy, which had been deteriorating since last summer.
Observers recall that Napoli had hoped to cash in on Osimhen earlier but were held back by the forward’s preference to remain in Europe’s top-flight leagues and his insistence on respectful terms.
Osimhen’s move to Galatasaray marks one of the biggest transfers in Turkish football history and reinforces the club’s ambitions for domestic and European dominance in the coming season.
The Nigerian international is now set to begin the next phase of his career, pending the outcome of his medical examination. Galatasaray fans are expected to welcome him with great fanfare in Istanbul.
