••Calls for Patience on Reforms.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated President Bola Tinubu on reaching the midpoint of his administration, emphasizing that leadership is an ongoing journey that requires patience and collective effort.
In a statement released on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Mallam Garba Shehu, Buhari called on Nigerians to offer steadfast support to the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government as it marks its second year in office. He noted that the economic reforms initiated by the administration would yield positive results gradually, cautioning against expecting immediate change.
The former president also warned against allowing domestic political disagreements to undermine crucial reforms and the country’s desired progress.
Buhari expressed his endorsement of the government’s ongoing efforts to tackle poverty and inflation—issues that have disproportionately affected the most vulnerable families. However, he stressed that addressing these challenges should not be the government’s responsibility alone.
“The private sector and all of us as citizens must join in all ways we can,” Buhari said.
He urged Nigerians to remain optimistic and confident about the nation’s future, adding, “Our expectations from our governments should not get heavy.”
Concluding his message, Buhari extended heartfelt congratulations to President Tinubu, wishing him continued wisdom and care in leadership.
