Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Nyesom Wike, has vehemently denied reports claiming that he was barred from the Aso Rock Presidential Villa for being intoxicated while receiving the Indian Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi.
In a statement released by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, it was clarified that the minister was actually directed by President Bola Tinubu to receive the Indian Prime Minister and lead him to his hotel from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. Wike reportedly carried out his duties as instructed and was not prevented from entering the Presidential Villa.
Olayinka also called out the journalist, Jackson Ude, who initially made the false allegations against Wike, pointing out previous instances where Ude had spread misinformation. Olayinka emphasized that Ude’s credibility was questionable and that his reputation for spreading lies was well-known.
The visit of Modi to Nigeria was significant, as he was conferred with the Grand Commander of the Order of Niger (GCON) by President Tinubu during his time in the country. The two leaders also engaged in discussions about strengthening the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and India.
Wike’s team has vehemently refuted the claims of him being intoxicated and barred from the Presidential Villa, emphasizing that he performed his duties diligently during the visit of the Indian Prime Minister.
