President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on his electoral victory in the just concluded Ondo poll. Aiyedatiwa, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), emerged as the winner after receiving 366,781 votes, defeating Ajayi Agboola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who garnered 117,845 votes.
Following Aiyedatiwa’s win, Tinubu urged aggrieved candidates from other parties to seek redress in court if they are dissatisfied with the election outcome. The president also commended the electoral body, police, and other security agencies for their roles in ensuring a peaceful and successful electoral process.
Tinubu expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the election and lauded the candidates for their maturity and sense of purpose during the campaigns and election. He attributed the success of the polls to the civility displayed by all parties involved.
The president noted that the Ondo State election served as a test of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) capacity and commended the electoral body for its efficiency in early preparations, deployment of staff and materials, as well as the handling of the electoral process.
President Tinubu also praised INEC for uploading over 98 percent of the results on the same day of the elections, demonstrating a commitment to transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
