The House of Representatives Committee on Housing has paid a working visit to the corporate headquarters of Federal Housing Authority, FHA.

Led by the Chairman of the Committee, Rt Honourable Abdulmumin jibrin , said the visit was in line with the provision of the constitution that affected oversight visits to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA’s) of government .

Addressing the committee, The Managing Director, Federal Housing Authority FHA, Hon Oladimeji Oyetunde Ojo highlighted the performance of the agency in the last few years without annual budget appropriation.

He said the authority relied basically on Internally Generated Revenue (IGR ), and also remitted 50% of its earning into the federation account through Consolidated Revenue Fund(CFR) , deductible directly through Treasury Single Account(TSA).

While leaving the authority with 50% earning for overhead, personnel and capital development , he assured the committee of staff reorientation, capacity building and amendment of its act to provide more avenue for future development in preparation for its digitization, operational efficiency and accuracy.

Ojo further maintained the success story with the connection of all its offices across the country to the headquarters for easy access to decision making and feedback, as well as acquired lands in 30 states for expansion in the next few years.

He restated the commitment of the authority into recovering its properties scattered across the country, as efforts are been intensified to recover lands and houses illegally annexed by occupants, giving room for regularization and revalidation by bonafide occupants of the land.

The 350 Max Drone acquired by the authority was geared towards promoting digitization, collect accurate database along with strengthening of Federal Housing Authority Mortgage Bank FHAMB to meet its operational effectiveness and efficiency, with FHA Energy Company Ltd on stream to provide light on all its estates across the country.

While assuring the committee of the commencement of 200 Housing Units estates across the country to boost the local economy, create value chain across housing sector in Nigeria.

Responding, the Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Housing, Rt Honourable Abdulmumin Jibril promised to restore the status of the finance of the authority back to government appropriation, along with provide special funds for more supports towards providing more houses for Nigerians .

He commended the new management for a job well-done, promising more supports from his experience as one of the Executive Directors few years ago .
