The spokesperson for the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) was unavailable for comments regarding the incident. The reasons behind Bobrisky’s arrest remain unclear, but it comes amid an ongoing investigation involving the House of Representatives, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Nigerian Correctional Service, concerning allegations of bribery. Bobrisky has been implicated in a leaked audio recording where he allegedly claims to have paid N15 million to EFCC officials to dismiss money laundering charges against him, a claim he has denied.

Additionally, Bobrisky has faced scrutiny for failing to attend a House of Representatives summons related to the investigation.
