An investigation into an alleged rape at a hotel in Stockholm has been opened, with Swedish media putting Kylian Mbappe’s name on the picture.
Swedish newspaper Expressen claimed it is Mbappe who is being investigated by police authorities after allegations were made against the Real Madrid star.
The footballer travelled to Sweden with friends last Wednesday and they stayed at the Bank Hotel in the city centre. They later left the country on Friday.
Newsband understand that the alleged rape took place on Thursday. Mbappe had earlier that night visited the Chez Jolie restaurant, before heading to the V nightclub and finally back to his hotel in a black van with his entourage.
Expressen said that a report was filed with police two days later.
Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reports that police are investigating a rape at the central Stockholm hotel, which allegedly happened Thursday night.
Investigators and a forensic unit were at the alleged crime scene on Monday, according to Aftonbladet.
The newspaper reported that the alarm over the alleged rape was raised when the woman ‘sought care’ at a local hospital.
Mbappe left Sweden’s Bromma airport in a private jet on Friday.
The prosecutor in charge of the rape investigation declined to comment on the case, telling local media, “I will not say anything about this.”
Mbappé’s Representatives Denies His Involvement.
Meanwhile, Mbappé’s representatives have described the allegations of rape against the France national as “totally false” and “a slanderous rumour”.
“A new slanderous rumour is starting to ignite the web,” a statement sent to Reuters by Mbappé’s representatives at public relations firm Patricia Goldman said. “These accusations are totally false and irresponsible, and their propagation is unacceptable.
“Kylian Mbappé will under no circumstances tolerate his integrity, reputation and honour being sullied by unfounded insinuations.”
“We do not know who the complaint is against, I do not know if the complaint is targeting him,” Mbappé’s lawyer, Marie-Alix Canu-Bernard, told French TV channel TF1 on Tuesday.
“He is never alone, he is never exposed to a risk-taking situation. It totally excludes that there could have been any reprehensible behaviour on his part. It is an absolute certainty. He is serene but flabbergasted by the media frenzy. He does not understand what can be reproached to him.
“He has done nothing wrong,” Canu-Bernard said, adding that Mbappé would cooperate with the Swedish justice system if he was to be directly targeted by an investigation.”
