Yahaya Bello not in EFCC Custody

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has clarified that former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello is not in their custody, despite media reports suggesting otherwise. The EFCC emphasized that Bello is still wanted in connection with alleged money laundering charges amounting to N80.2 billion, and there is an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Dele Oyewale, the Head of Media and Publicity for the EFCC, issued this statement on September 18, 2024, to address the confusion surrounding Bello’s status.
