The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has expressed deep concern over the growing trend of double standards in Nigeria, which poses a significant threat to national unity and the rule of law.
In a statement signed by Chief Peter Ameh, National Secretary of CUPP, Former National Chairman of IPAC, and Ex-Presidential Candidate, the CUPP condemned the recent statement by Governor Nyesom Wike, threatening to “put fire” in states across the federation.
Despite the potential for inciting violence and destabilizing the country, the federal government’s silence on the matter is alarming. In contrast, citizens participating in peaceful protests have been treated unjustly, facing harsh repercussions for exercising their constitutional rights.
This disparity in treatment is unacceptable and undermines the principles of justice, equity, and fairness. The CUPP aligns itself with the statement of Elder Statesman, E.K. Clark, demanding the immediate arrest and prosecution of Governor Wike for alleged treason.
The CUPP calls on the federal government to address this issue head-on, ensuring equal treatment for all citizens, regardless of their social standing or political affiliations.
