Lawmakers Push for New Jets for Tinubu, Shettima Despite Refusal to Upgrade Minimum Wage

by

The House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence has urged the federal government to promptly purchase new aircraft for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima. This recommendation follows a report by the Presidential Air Fleet (PAF) highlighting the need for new jets to prevent potential technical issues or mishaps.

The report states, “Considering the fragile structure of the Nigerian federation and the dire consequences of any unforeseen mishap, it is in the best interest of the country to procure two additional aircraft as recommended. This will also prove cost-efficient in the long run and provide a suitable, comfortable, and safe carrier befitting the status and responsibilities of the office of the leader and assistant leader of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

According to sources, the document has been forwarded to the presidency for action. This development comes despite the government’s refusal to upgrade the minimum wage, sparking concerns about priorities and resource allocation.
