Let Local Government System Work: Tinubu Warns Against Suffocating Local Government Administration

President Bola Tinubu has sounded a warning against attempts to stifle the local government administration, emphasizing the need for a more effective system that promotes community development and delivers essential governance within a robust federal framework.

Receiving a delegation of the Yoruba Leaders of Thought at the State House on Friday, Tinubu stressed that governance must be transformative and address the critical needs of citizens. He noted that the past 12 months have been fulfilling for his administration despite challenges, and assured Nigerians that his government will ensure value for every kobo spent and leave a lasting legacy of prosperity for future generations.

Tinubu called for deeper governance and leadership reinforcement across all levels of government and institutions, committing to fiscal federalism and system strengthening for inclusive and equitable development. He urged state governors to take their responsibilities seriously, prioritizing people-focused development plans and synergy with the federal government for Nigeria’s progress.

The President commended the delegation for their support and urged continued faith in Nigeria, assuring them that his government will live up to expectations.

In his remarks, Bayo Aina, National Secretary of the Yoruba Leaders of Thought, praised Tinubu’s infrastructure investments and commitment to responsible governance, pledging unwavering support for the President’s vision of greatness for Nigeria.
