Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has made a shocking revelation that his administration inherited a massive debt burden from the previous administration of Nyesom Wike, with contractors owed billions of naira. This disclosure has opened a new front in the crisis between the two leaders.
Despite Wike’s claims of paying for projects, Fubara stated that contractors are still demanding balance payments, which has become a significant problem for his administration. Fubara inaugurated the reconstructed 10.89km Aleto-Ogale-Ebubu-Eteo Road in Eleme Local Government Area, which was awarded to China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation at a cost of N6.7 billion, and has been fully paid. The governor described the road as a bypass to alleviate the deplorable sections of the East-West Road currently under reconstruction.
