Kogi Guber: Armed Political Thugs Attack SDP Chairman In Country Home, Destroy Vehicle

Barely three weeks to the Kogi State Governorship Election, armed political thugs on Saturday attacked the house of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Zonal Chairman, Pastor Sunday Atabo, looted his house and vandalised his vehicle.

The attack,took place at his country home in Aja-Odi Agojoeju close to Ejule area of the state in the early hours of Saturday morning.

SaharaReporters reports that the recent attack is coming barely 48 hours political thugs working for All Progressives Congress (APC) unleashed attack and disrupted the governorship campaign rally of SDP in Ejule, Ofu local government area of Kogi State.

The hoodlums suspected to be members of the ruling APC in the state also reportedly destroyed vehicles and other valuables worth millions of naira.

According to him, “The attack happened around 12am in Aja-Odi Agojoeju close to Ejule by one Alfa Nasir Muhammed the Zonal Charman of APC who is from Ejule. He led the attack to the house of Pastor Sunday Atabo who is the Zonal Chairman of SDP.”

An X (formerly Twitter) user, with account @searuwa_law, who shared the video of the aftermath of the attack, wrote: “In another happening. Currently, Hon. Sunday Atabor is in a state of semi-consciousness, travelling from consciousness to unconsciousness. His dear wife is shakened to her marrow.”

Meanwhile, in the video a Toyota Camry 2018 model had its windshields completely smashed with bullet holes on the body of the vehicle.

Also, window glasses in his bungalow house were equally shattered.

Meanwhile, SaharaReporters’ efforts to speak with the Kogi State Police Command on the attack were unsuccessful as the Command’s spokesman, SP William Ovye Aya could not be reached on phone as his number was said to be switched off at the time of filing this report.

However, the campaign council of SDP had called on President Bola Tinubu and security agencies to urgently intervene and address the drift in Kogi State before it fatally undermines democracy in the state.
