by

Lokoja, the Kogi State metropolis, witnessed a fleet of dignitaries yesterday as Admiral Jibrin Usman officially became the flag bearer of the Accord Party, AP, following weeks of consultations and permutations across the board by the former Chief of Naval Staff.

According to reports, the admiral, having met all requirements, has been acknowledged as the standard bearer of the Accord Party, AP, where he’ll have to slug it out with other contestants like Dino Melaye of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP; Alhaji Usman Ododo of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC; Elder Leke of the ADC; and Alhaji Muritala Ajaka, who is billed to fly the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Governorship ticket.

Admiral Jibrin Usman, while addressing newsmen on the occasion, assured the inhabitants of Kogi State of absolute and transparent leadership when he, by God’s will, takes over from the current government.

I’m not appearing on the ballot for a selfish reason; the goal remains to selflessly serve my people to the fullest. This is a divine project, and I’m ready to demonstrate the resolve of my people, who’re hungry and thirsty for good and responsible leadership, he continued.

He, however, urged members of the public, especially his supporters, to shun violence and embark on what he termed “political envagelism” to win more supporters as they take off against the Yahaya Bello-led administration.

There’s no time to cast baseless aspersions; this is the perfect time to swing into action, and I want you all to be stakeholders in this liberating movement, he concluded.

The Accord Party, AP, governorship candidate was an erstwhile governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who was abruptly and unjustly disqualified ahead of the 2019 primary election, where Yahaya Bello emerged as the party’s flagbearer.

His recent outing means he’s out to consolidate the massive love and support he enjoyed when he first dared to rule Kogi about four years ago.
