A young Ghanaian student at the prestigious Harvard University, identified as Verda Annan, has stunned America after donating a $40,000 (over N22m) scholarship from her High School to her less privileged classmates.

She was awarded a full scholarship to Havard University, but she gave away the $40,000 scholarship to her mates who would be attending community colleges.

While delivering a speech, Annan stated that she was very grateful for the honor bestowed on her but she felt that the scholarship should go to someone who is more in need of it.

“I am so very grateful for this, but I also know that I am not the one who needs this the most. And knowing my mom went to Community College and how much that was helpful.

“I would be so very grateful if the administration would consider giving this excellent scholarship to someone who is going to community college because I know it is such a great honor, but I also know I am not the most in need of it,” she said.
The young Ghanaian while appearing on the ‘Steve on Watch’ show’ explained that her actions of giving away the scholarship to the less privileged were influenced by principles she learned from family, friends, and communities abroad as well as her country, Ghana.

“And we talk about integrity and doing the right thing and kindness, and all these things that are so right, and I was sitting there, and I knew immediately it was the right thing to do because I had the chance to make a difference in someone else’s life to help somebody else and there was just no excuse at that point.
Her willingness to help does not stop here as she hopes to be a health expert in the future to help alleviate the dire health care situation in Ghana and all over the world.

Her kindness has however being rewarded as she was gifted a 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe by sponsors of the Steve on Watch show where she was a guest to the program hosted by Steve Harvey.
