Kenneth Okonkwo, a former spokesman for the Labour Party’s presidential campaign council, has made a strong call for notable political figures, including President Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi, to step aside from the 2027 elections. During an interview on Arise TV, Okonkwo expressed his belief that these leaders have failed to fulfill their promises and unite the opposition, which has led to disappointment among Nigerians.
He pointed out that the current political landscape requires fresh faces, as many citizens are eager for change and effective leadership. Okonkwo criticized the opposition parties for their inability to collaborate, which he believes has resulted in missed opportunities to secure key positions, such as the speaker and vice speaker in the House of Representatives.
Highlighting the imbalance in representation, Okonkwo noted that there are more opposition members than those from the ruling party in the House, yet they have not managed to leverage this advantage. He urged the opposition to prioritize unity and collaboration rather than immediately focusing on the next election.
