Sheikh Bello Yabo Alleges Tinubu Bragged About Buying Presidential Seat

Sheikh Bello Yabo, a Sokoto-based Islamic cleric, has made a controversial statement alleging that President Bola Tinubu told traditional rulers and clerics that he bought his way to the presidency with his own money. This claim has sparked debate and raised questions about the legitimacy of Tinubu’s presidency.

In a video of one of his sermons, Yabo stated that Tinubu made this disclosure during a meeting at the villa last week. Yabo praised Tinubu for telling the “naked truth,” saying, “Whoever pays the piper dictates the tune; isn’t Tinubu telling the truth?”

Yabo also criticized those who sold their votes during the 2023 presidential elections, saying they have exhausted the benefits they received and are now suffering the consequences of their decision.

Tinubu’s spokespeople, Ajuri Ngelale and Bayo Onanuga, could not be reached for comments on the cleric’s claim.

This development comes after Tinubu stated at a meeting with clerics and traditional rulers that he funded and fought his election with his personal money and no cabal support.
